Book of the Tainted

....Among the magic casters, necromancers were the most horrifying casters and were widely feared by all. Those who came across a necromancer often backed away in fright for they have quite a reputation in wrecking cities and armies with their own dark armies of the dead and torturing their foes with dark spells.

The Master, or the lord of all necromancers, was Hexus Malfiend. He was present during the time of the Grotesque War*.

Even though he was widely feared by others, he was respected by his kin and an unnamed king**. He was the one who stopped the Grotesque War. From that time forward, more and more people began to respect him and other necromancers. The unnamed king gave Hexus a part of his land for him and his kin as a thank you for ending the war. The new era of peace begun.

When Hexus was alone, the Soul Harvester came to him and made a deal with Hexus. Most of the people who died during the war were damned and tainted with evil and the Soul Harvester saw that even the punishment in the abyss weren't going to be enough to make them suffer so he bind every evil souls in to a book and gave it to Hexus.

The book was for Hexus to create his undead army using the damned souls. Locking them in the flesh cage and be killed over and over again. Soon, the book became one of the primary sources of Hexus's dark magic. 

Years later, Hexus had a family of his own. News spread that he would pass down his 'Master' title to his son when the time comes. No one at that time thought that the news would bring enemies to his doorsteps.

Just when everyone thought that nothing would go wrong, the great tragedy hit the land of the necromancers.

What shocked others was the news that Hexus---the great necromancer who stopped the Grotesque War---the one that no one can possibly stand against him--- was killed by a group of power-hungry warriors. His family were tortured and soon slain by them. Hexus's followers couldn't use their powers to revived their Master for unknown reasons. What was more terrifying was that the foolish warriors stole the Book of the Tainted. They thought that the book would make them unbeatable.

However, they argued among themselves and accidentally tore the book. The damned souls flew out from their prison and went across the land. The screams of the souls echoed throughout the land, making the necromancers agitated, for they knew of the Master's book.

Evil souls roamed...and necromancers seemed to disappeared from the land---and out of everyone's sight. They began to look out for the escaped souls in the dark and bring them back to the empty book cover.

From that time on, necromancers were nowhere to be seen. Soon, they became nothing more but tales around the bonfire or stories from other magic users.

"Necromancers...are no more." they would say that at the end of their stories...
.....they are wrong.

*Grotesque War= an era where every kingdom faces chaos. Rebellions, civil wars, massacres----all happening at the same time. The war lasts for 17 years.
**The unnamed king= rumored to be the same king who made a pact with an entity that Hexus knew.
